Pictures, photos, images…
So wether you’re creative or not, in this day and age we all need imagery for a variety of projects. Maybe you’re a keen blogger or a web designer, or just generating content for your business, we all know and appreciate the benefits of beautiful imagery.
The bad news is that you can’t just ‘steal’ pictures of the internet. First of all, it doesn’t look professional and secondly it’s basically illegal. You’re stealing someone’s IP. Not a great idea.
The good news is that there are loads of resources out there to help you. Websites like Pixabay, Unsplash and Pexels have hundreds of thousands of beautiful images completely free to use. Because they are all ‘public domain’, you can use them personally or professionally and you can even edit them. And the best part, you don’t need to attribute them to anyone.
Obviously always double check before you download and use an image but as long as you don’t resell them or use them for defamatory purposes, you should be free to use beautiful pictures as you wish.
Speaking of attribution – there’s nothing wrong with doing that either. Freepik for example, has both images and illustrations (including vector graphics that are editable in Adobe Illustrator) that are free to download and use as long as you attribute them correctly. On a website or blog for example, that means just a little link under the image.
